Inviting parents and family

Give a child's parents and family a login so they can follow their child.

Parents and family follow their child by joining your service as members — with access limited to their own children. Invitations start from a child's contacts.

Sending an invitation

  1. Open the child's profile and go to the Family tab.
  2. Select the contact you want to invite (they need an email address).
  3. Choose Invite to app.

The contact is invited based on how they're linked to the child: a parent contact is invited as a Parent, while family and pickup contacts are invited as Family.

When you add a contact you can also invite them straight away by choosing Parent or Family under Invite as — or pick Don't invite to add them now and invite later.

What happens when they accept

The invitation email contains a secure link (valid for 7 days). When the person accepts — signing in or creating an account first — they join your service and are linked to their child. From then on they can sign in and follow that child.

What parents and family can see

  • Parents can view their own children, follow their activity, manage their children's contacts, and invite other family members.
  • Family can view and follow the children they're linked to.

Both only ever see the children they're linked to. Staff-only areas — Today, Staff, settings, and reports — are hidden from them. Staff continue to see every child; adding a parent link doesn't change staff access.

Managing invitations

From the Family tab you can resend or cancel an invitation before it's accepted, and remove a contact's access if it's no longer needed.

Note: Meadow doesn't have a separate parent app or parent-only dashboard yet. Parents and family sign in to the same Meadow workspace as your team, but only see what's relevant to their children.
